Course Description:
Dive into the world of intaglio printmaking in this hands-on 4-week course designed for artists of all levels. Students will explore both traditional and contemporary techniques used to create intricate and visually compelling prints. Emphasis will be placed on process, experimentation, and developing a personal visual language.
Processes covered:
1) Etched Line – mastering line work through traditional etching on zinc plates.
2) Aquatint – creating tonal variations and rich gradients to add depth and atmosphere.
3) Chine Collé – layering color and texture using delicate papers for added visual complexity.
Learning outcomes:
By the end of the class, students will have developed a series of original prints and gained a solid foundation in intaglio processes, plate preparation, inking, and press operation. One-on-one guidance will support the development of individual projects and artistic voice.
No prior experience required.
