Course Description:
Dive into the world of printmaking with The Basics of Soft Ground Etching, a hands-on course designed for beginners and curious creatives alike. Over three weeks, students will explore the foundational techniques of soft ground etching, a process known for capturing rich textures and delicate detail.
Led by illustrator and printmaker Jennifer Marenco, this class will guide participants through every step—from preparing plates and drawing techniques to etching, inking, and printing on a press. Emphasis will be placed on experimentation, texture-making, and developing a personal approach to this expressive medium. By the end of the course, students will complete a series of original prints.
No prior experience required.
Includes one 4.5" x 6" zinc plate for printing.
