This course explores the fundamentals of woodblock relief printing, one of the oldest and most accessible forms of printmaking. Students will learn how to design, carve, and print images from wood using both traditional and contemporary techniques.
Through hands on demonstrations and guided practice the class will cover essential tools, carving methods, inking techniques, and printing by hand and press. Emphasis will be placed on graphic imagery, texture, composition along with safe studio practices and material handling.
Open to beginners and those with some printmaking experience, this course provides a supportive environment for experimentation and personal expression. By the end of the class, students will produce a series of original prints and gain the fundamental skills that make up relief printmaking.
