The upcoming session runs from September 4th - November 20th.

Course Description:

Dive into the world of intaglio printmaking in this hands-on 12-week course designed for artists of all levels. Students will explore both traditional and contemporary techniques used to create intricate and visually compelling prints. Emphasis will be placed on process, experimentation, and developing a personal visual language.

Processes covered:

1) Etched Line – mastering line work through traditional acid-etching on copper plates.
2) Aquatint – creating tonal variations and rich gradients to add depth and atmosphere.
3) Photo Engraving – incorporating photographic imagery into intaglio plates using light-sensitive processes.
4) Soft Ground – capturing texture and hand-drawn quality with soft, malleable grounds.
5) Chine Collé – layering color and texture using delicate papers for added visual complexity.

Learning outcomes:

By the end of the class, students will have developed a series of original prints and gained a solid foundation in intaglio processes, plate preparation, inking, and press operation. Group critiques and one-on-one guidance will support the development of individual projects and artistic voice.

Students get a drawer to store their work throughout the course of the class.

No prior experience required.
